Previously known as Fire Research Institute, we are changing our name to Wildland Fire Research Institute. The Institute was founded in 1983 to benefit research in fire across the globe. The hope was that scientific exchanges may help bring world peace by bringing together researchers from all countries to work on common problems, such as the climate catastrophe we are currently experiencing. Topics such as fire ecology, fire weather, fire management, fire behavior, fire safety, rare/endangered species, invertebrates, smoke, and many more subjects, are covered in this database.
